The number of traffic accidents during the 2010 Cambodian New Year in the entire country is increasing when compared to 2009: the number of injured people is increasing whereas the number of deaths decreased. General Him Yan, director of the police department for the ministry of Interior, told Koh Santepheap newspaper that during the New Year, i.e. between 13 and 17 April 2010, in the entire country, there were 254 accidents causing 49 deaths, 296 people sustained severe injuries and 234 people sustained light injuries. In comparison to 2009, the number of accidents and the number of people injured have increased, but the number of death from traffic accidents decreased. In 2009, there were 240 accidents causing 52 deaths, 233 people sustaining severe injuries and 224 sustaining light injuries. The majority of the accidents occurred from speeding.

tax collection on the means of transportation 2009

“The finance ministry announces for all vehicle owners that the tax collection on the means of transportation for all kinds of vehicles will begin on July 15 and run to October 15,” stated the announcement, which was signed by Minister Keat Chhon.

he Ministry of Public Works and Transport estimated in a report last year (2008) that there are 197,800 registered cars and 671,000 registered motorcycles in the Kingdom.

It is great that all transportations have legal tax but what behind the tax collection procedure?

My motor cycle is Chally, in the tax printed price only 3,000 R but I had to pay 5,500 R without any receipt. What this extra charge for? Who authorized to the tax collection agencies to charge this over amount of money? Where will the money run to?

Access to public information in Cambodia context is still limited. Without the ability to access or generate information about public policies and procedures, budgets, expenditures, programs and services, it is difficult for citizens to formulate and voice opinions, contribute to public debates, monitor government actions, or effectively negotiate with public officials. Lack of information does not help people in claiming their rights particularly in matter the most to them. Also, lack of information let people spend more money on getting public services.

Do you know how much money you have to spend for birth certificate? Do you know what the sub-degree say about this service cost is?

My nephew just born last month, his father went to Sangkat…office and made birth certificate for him, it charged $10.He did not know what is the sub-degree say about this service cost, and you?
